Description |
JNCC advises Government on UK and international nature conservation and are seeking enthusiastic individuals to take on the role of O-grade Support Officer/Assistant(s) in either our Peterborough or Aberdeen offices. These roles provide scientific administration and technical support to various teams. We currently have two vacancies, a permanent Marine Species Support Officer role in Aberdeen and an 18 month fixed term appointment (with the possibility of extension or permanency) Marine Support Officer role in Peterborough but are also anticipating future similar vacancies over the coming year. Our O-grade roles are an ideal entry level for recent graduates, particularly where you may have a relevant qualification but limited work experience, and they can often be a stepping stone to higher grades within JNCC. The ideal candidates would be experienced at using standard office software, have experience of managing and manipulating large data sets and/or have a broad understanding of marine and/or terrestrial nature conservation work in the UK and/or overseas territories. Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control standards and procedures for survey or analytical work is also required. For more information about the competencies and how to apply, visit our website http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/jobs where you can download the candidate information pack and the relevant application form and find out more about our work and the generous benefits package we can offer. When applying for these posts, please be clear whether you would like to apply for one or both of the positions, and of your preference for location. The closing date for applications is 09:00 Thursday 14 March 2019. Interviews (initially for the vacant posts at the time of closing) are expected to be held during the week commencing 25 March 2019 (in either our Peterborough or Aberdeen offices). Those who meet all requirements at interview, but who are not initially selected for a position, may be contacted as and when similar opportunities become available over the next few months. N.B. Please note that applicants who are successful at the shortlisting stage but not invited for the first round of interviews, will be notified and their details kept on file for 12 months. They may then be invited to interview, at a later date, should further suitable posts become available. If you have any further questions, please contact us via recruitment@jncc.gov.uk. |
