Description: The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) has immediate opening for a Regional Wildlife Biologist position. This position will be responsible for all facets of the NWTF's habitat conservation, wild turkey restoration and wildlife management programs in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Duties:
  • Work cooperatively with state and federal wildlife agencies and private landowners on habitat initiatives
  • Administer the NWTF's Regional habitat programs, and works closely with three NWTF State Chapters to administer the Hunting Heritage Super Fund Program and accomplish the goals and objectives of the North American Wild Turkey Plan
  • Provide oversight and coordination for conservation activities and addressing forest health issues affecting important habitat for the wild turkey and other wildlife on both private and public lands
  • Garner additional funding for conservation initiatives by securing grants and additional agency and non-governmental organization partnerships to further NWTF's mission
  • Develop and provide oversight of agency agreements and contracts
  • Develop and implement stewardship habitat proposals and projects with USFS staff that enhance wildlife habitat via active forest management
  • Promote habitat and outreach accomplishments via NWTF and agency public media
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a science-related field and demonstrated knowledge of wildlife management, forestry and ecology, a Master's degree with four years related experience is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Experience working with state and federal agencies and private landowners; grant writing and administration, Farm Bill programs; and northwest ecosystems and management techniques preferred
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft applications including spreadsheets, internet and computer applications
  • Individual will be required to reside in one of three states, Oregon, Washington or Idaho. While location is negotiable, a centralized location is preferred

Positions will require significant overnight travel most of which will occur within a three state region, although minimum travel outside the region may be needed at times. Salary is very competitive. Excellent health and retirement benefits package along with a vehicle plan. Salary is commensurate with experience.
