The Coastal Conservation League is a nonprofit conservation organization that works with communities, elected officials, businesses, and citizen groups to protect the natural landscapes, abundant wildlife, clean air and water, and quality of life along the South Carolina coast. We are a group of 36 passionate individuals and tackle issues such as flooding, offshore drilling, improving transportation, and smart growth along the coast of South Carolina. We have offices in Charleston, Georgetown, Beaufort, and Columbia as well as operating a food hub in the Charleston area called GrowFood Carolina. The Coastal Conservation League is searching for a full-time Director for the North Coast office. The North Coast Office Director oversees all program and development work related to environmental resources, the community, and the quality of life in the Pee Dee region, including Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg Counties. The Director works closely with the Charleston program staff on project strategy and the development staff on funding opportunities. This position requires excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and an interest in understanding environmental issues including land use and conservation, air and water quality, transportation policy, energy and recycling, and sustainable agriculture. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and a team player with a track record of demonstrated initiative. The Director must be able to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and capable of identifying and managing diverse projects in a high-pressure setting. This position reports to the Executive Director. Principal Responsibilities and Duties
The North Coast Director plans and executes diverse projects under multiple deadlines, manages internal and external relationships, and makes decisions in a variety of situations. The Director operates in a professional office environment. This role requires a working knowledge of computers, projectors, and conference lines. Additionally, this position requires working with local communities and attending meetings, lunches, dinners, and events. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This employee travels occasionally to Columbia and to the Charleston office, as well as to conferences and meetings, as needed. Competencies
