Nature Spaces Officer

Surrey Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK, a grassroots movement working to protect and connect at least 30 per cent of land and sea for nature's recovery by 2030.

If you possess a passion to enthuse and motivate others, enjoy sharing knowledge and engaging others from a variety of backgrounds, and have the ability to lead others successfully, particularly in the context of volunteers which requires consideration, motivation and focus to achieve results, we need you to join our countryside team.

The core function of the Nature Spaces Officer (NSO) is to engage with and lead the Trust’s volunteers so that required works across the land we manage are undertaken in line with approved management plans and to meet our statutory and contractual obligations. The NSOs will work together to manage projects, create links with the local communities, with local groups and Volunteer Wardens.  The aim is to empower communities to understand their local greenspaces and assist with their habitat management for the benefit of biodiversity and human welfare.

You must have some previous experience of successfully working with, organising and leading volunteers and the ability to reach and inspire others in nature conservation. An out-going, personable and friendly personality with the ability to work with a wide range of people is essential coupled with a passion for the natural joy of nature.

The job will involve being outdoors undertaking practical tasks for most days of the year and a driving licence is essential as our locations cannot easily be accessed by public transport.
