This post will play a leading part in driving the establishment of Natural Capital as an integral part of public and private business planning and investment decisions at national, landscape and landholding/business scales.  A key part of the role is to promote the reliance on natural capital and the impact we have on it, that leads to action to protect and rebuild it.

The postholder will be a member of NatureScot’s Green Finance team leading the development and implementation of natural capital valuation approaches and methodologies in NatureScot and ensure they align with green finance and wider project objectives.

Context

In order to bring about Scotland’s climate and nature ambitions we need a step change in public and private investment in nature across Scotland, including in the marine environment. NatureScot strives to be a leader in this field, collaborating with organisations across Scotland, UK and the globe to shape and grow new markets.

We connect investment opportunities with investors to deliver annual investment growth in natural capital. To get that growth, Scotland will need to be the first country to give natural capital equal prominence in national policy and decision making.

This post will have a key role in influencing government, other public sector bodies and stakeholders including eNGOs and the business and finance communities.
