Description

ZSL is looking for a Project Intern to work on the National Red List database and website. This project builds networks and knowledge for national conservation decision making and acts as a focal point for national red lists and action plans. The database contains accounts for over 70,000 species from 45 regions globally, supported by network information, mapping tools and case studies.

 

The role is primarily to manage the project database which will include general maintenance and updating the website; uploading existing data; expanding the network and seeking new data partners; answering queries sent via the website and overseeing the conversion of the entire site to a new format. The successful applicant will also play a role in developing grant proposals to undertake and fund the 5 year strategic plan developed for national red lists.

 

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree or above in biology, zoology, ecology, conservation biology or a related subject. They should be IT proficient with exceptional attention to detail, along with strong communication skills and an ability to work independently. Database experience is highly desirable, particularly a working knowledge of SQL.

This position is a full-time voluntary position for six months based in London; ZSL will reimburse lunches, and travel costs from within the Greater London area.
