Our client is now taking applications for the position of National Industrial Symbiosis Programme - Practitioner in  London. "Industrial Symbiosis" is a pioneering sustainable development initiative that engages traditionally separate industries and other organisations in create a collective approach involving physical exchange of materials, energy, water and / or by-products together with the shared use of assets, logistics and expertise.  This results in significant environmental benefits and economic advantage. This is the world's first example of an industrial symbiosis programme deployed on a national scale.  The programme is delivered through distinct regional teams of practitioners in the 9 English regions, as well as in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  The programme has been particularly successful in assisting projects in the construction sector.  
About the Role
The role of the Practitioner is to support the Regional Coordinator (RC) in the delivery of NISP regional resource efficiency ‘synergy' projects as required to meet the contracted environmental targets for which this client is responsible.
Based in London, this position requires experience in the Construction and Utilities sector, and ideally in the London region.
Core responsibilities include assisting the RC in delivering NISP by supporting regional NISP workshops and other events, networking opportunities, member company recruitment and training activities and supporting the RC, to deliver synergies identified through NISP events and processes and targeted sector-based research, with reference to a quarterly updated Regional Action Plan. Supporting the RC, to develop and maintain regional information data bases to support the delivery of the NISP programme including the regional NISP synergy grid and the NISP National Database CRISP and maintaining regional records of meetings held and use these to help refine NISP practice regionally and nationally.
You are likely to have the following key skills and experience:
- Significant experience in either environmental consultancy or industry and commerce
- Specific skills and experience in the construction or utilities sector, ideally in the London region.
- Experience in resource efficiency, business processes or commercial management essential
- A strong commercial acumen coupled with the presence and confidence needed to negotiate and deal with senior individuals in varying sizes of organisation
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills as well as the confidence to run industry-based workshops and carry out public speaking engagements
- Experience in working with industry and or professional networks and in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong regional networks with industry, commerce and business support agencies would be a distinct advantage
- A demonstrable capacity for leading collaborative problem solving involving complex technical and commercial issues in a multi disciplinary work environment
- Prepared to spend significant periods of time away from the office visiting companies and running workshops in the region.
