National Expert, Senior Specialist in Climate Change, Republic of Guinea
Climate Analytics is looking for a national consultant, senior expert in climate change to collaborate on a potential opportunity in the Republic of Guinea.
Responsibilities of the National Expert
The National Expert, Senior Specialist in Climate Change will support the team to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Identify (in consultation with key actors) the commissions, groups or equivalents (e.g. focal points) that will be targeted for a capacity building project for high-level political bodies on climate change, including the national assembly , ministries, etc.
- Contribute to analyzes of Guinea's policies and strategies on climate change to identify policy needs in terms of capacity building on issues relating to climate change.
- Help with the logistical organization of training meetings and workshops, the preparation of training materials on various themes of climate change intended for the political authorities of Guinea, the facilitation of training, and the support of actors in the restitution of knowledge acquired within their respective bodies.
- Support the development of an action and communication plan by identifying the entry points for climate action and the most relevant interventions that can be implemented in order to disseminate the knowledge acquired by the participants, and to influence on the agendas of each body in order to generate debates, discussions and decisions on climate issues, in terms of mitigation, adaptation, and development trajectories;
- Help with any other activity in the context of the project.
Profile
- Masters or equivalent degree in political science, environment, social sciences or related fields;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of climate change;
- Excellent knowledge of the institutional environment and stakeholders affected by climate change in Guinea;
- Proven experience in providing advisory support for the development of national policies or strategies related to climate change;
- Mastery of the mechanisms of the UNFCCC , and in particular of the Paris Agreement, the CDN , and climate finance mechanisms;
- Ability to support the logistical organization of workshops
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience working in Guinea with members of Parliament, the Economic and Social Council and / or the Prime Minister; ministries, and any other high-level government agency
- Very good command of French (spoken and written).

- Support in organizing meetings and training workshops, the preparation of training materials on various climate change issues for the Guinean political authorities, the facilitation of training sessions, and the support of actors in the restitution of knowledge acquired within their respective bodies.
- Support the development of action and communication plans by identifying the entry points for climate action and the most relevant interventions that can be implemented in order to disseminate the knowledge gained by participants, and to influence the agendas of each forum to generate debate, discussion and decisions on climate issues, in terms of mitigation, adaptation and development trajectories;
- Assist with any other activities in the context of the project.
