Media Adviser – Incoming Senator Peter Whish-Wilson

The Media Adviser will manage the relationship between the senator and the media by providing advice about presentation, messaging and strategy, producing materials and developing relationships with the media in Canberra and locally. The adviser will also communicate with key groups via online and hard copy publications. This position will involve regular travel to Canberra and irregular hours.
 
Roles and Responsibilities

1. Provide key media and messaging advice and strategy.
2. Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-media communication plan for the senator consistent with the overarching plan developed for all Australian Greens senators.
3. Liaise with media (field requests, develop and manage relationships with journalists, producers etc).
4. Write and distribute media releases, statements, media packs, and opinion articles.
5. Prepare, advise and manage regular media activity (e.g. weekly TV interviews, blog, etc).
6. Prepare, develop and manage media events: media conferences, joint media events, etc.
7. Maintain accurate media contact lists.
8. Daily media monitoring and keeping staff informed of relevant issues and developments.
9. Help the Campaigns Adviser prepare publications and campaign materials, including leaflets, posters, newsletters, and policy documents.
10. Update the website with media releases, blogs, etc.
11. Other tasks as directed by the senator.

A salary within the range $43,942–68,874pa will be determined commensurate with relevant skills and experience. In addition, an allowance in the range $3475–$24,330 is payable in lieu of overtime.
