Description

The assistant will be working on the developing and implementation of a European project in the Mediterranean: the 32 month-project, Posbemed2 (Governance and management of Posidonia beach- dune systems across the Mediterranean) as well as the Mediterranean project "A collaborative approach for understanding multi-taxa ‘bycatch’ of vulnerable species in Mediterranean fisheries and testing mitigation" (Med Bycatch Project).

Posbemed2 project aims to integrate previous Mediterranean works and offer common sustainable tools with a transnational joint management strategy to integrate management of the coastal habitats with seagrass meadows, beaches and dunes. Within the activities planned with the Project Partners and in cooperation with Associated Partners, this project will:

- Implement a local framework for decision making for Posidonia banquettes, considering beach functions and their integration into the ecosystem where protected areas are located.
- Increase awareness of stakeholders and support their participation through engagement activities to enhance their understanding of the value of Posidonia coastal/marine landscapes
- Provide better integration planning tools to be incorporated into management planning and coastal policies where the Posidonia littoral zone occurs, across the Mediterranean.
