The vision of Te Kuwaha is to position NIWA as Aotearoa's leading and trusted science provider of innovative water and atmospheric research solutions in collaborative partnerships that benefit hapu, iwi, Maori communities and Maori business.

We are seeking an experienced Marine Scientist to contribute to NIWA's research and consultancy projects and to facilitate the integration of matauranga Maori and science for the benefit of iwi, hapu, and Maori communities and enterprises. You will be required to develop research opportunities, prepare proposals, plan research, manage projects and complete reports and research publications.

We are seeking someone with relevant tertiary qualifications (MSc or PhD) and experience in conducting environmental research, particularly in the field of marine ecology, fisheries, aquaculture, social/humanities research, policy and Matauranga Maori. You must have demonstrated experience in working with Maori to meet their research priorities and aspirations.  An in-depth knowledge and understanding of tikanga and Te Reo Maori is essential.
