As the Manager, Market Development and Regulatory Affairs, Southwest at Opower you will be responsible for expanding energy efficiency markets in the region and helping our sales team and clients gain regulatory acceptance for new programs and expansions. States of responsibility will include, but not be limited to Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Oklahoma, and Texas.

This position will also support the Director of Market Development, West on our work in California. You will be expected to be or quickly become an expert in the regulatory, economic, and political landscapes in each state. You will report to the Director of Market Development and Strategy, and collaborate closely with the southwest sales team. This is a position for a strategic thinker and world-class communicator who is substantive on policy, but prefers to spend more time in the field growing a market than at a desk. This role will involve travel 20-40% of the time and will be based in Opower’s San Francisco office or remotely in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for each southwestern state to advance regulatory acceptance of our programs, and grow the market for energy efficiency.

  • Represent Opower publicly in regulatory proceedings and other meetings.
  • Write comprehensive, accurate and persuasive filings and comments.

About You

  • You are an exceptional communicator, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and organized. You function well in a fast-paced, informal, team-focused environment where constant change is the norm and the bar for quality is set high.
  • You are passionate about energy policy and have some experience in government or industry, preferably in the southwest.
  • You want to work for a company with a mission you can believe in and where your job is central to our success.
