Conservation International's Center for Conservation and Government (CCG) is seeking a flexible, proactive contributor to serve as the Manager for German Government Funding. Focusing primarily as a liaison to the German government, the Manager will support CI's proposal development and critical fundraising activities.

As a major division within Conservation International, CCG seeks to promote innovative solutions that enable governments to take critical actions to conserve biodiversity. Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Funding, the Manager for German Government Funding will participate in the achievement of the Public Funding team's goals of supporting CI's field programs through the identification of new funding sources and accessing bilateral and multilateral funds through proposal review, reporting, and information sharing.

As the German government is taking a global leadership role in raising awareness and setting aside public funds for biodiversity conservation and climate change, CI's relationship with German government institutions is rapidly growing.  In addition to ensuring the execution of projects, continued maintenance of strong relationships and expansion of current funding with German Government institutions, the Manager is also tasked with exploring potential sources of funding from government institutions and foundations in Austria and Switzerland. Accordingly the preferred candidate would have experience with fundraising from such government institutions and foundations, exercising discretion, strong communication skills and sound judgment necessary to foster strong and sustaining partnerships for Conservation International.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the donor relationship with the German government and German foundations through the maintenance of regular communication with partners and development of communication tools.
  • Organize meetings in the U.S., Germany, Switzerland, Austria and CI field program sites as needed to discuss current funded projects and future projects to be funded from government sources and foundations.
  • Support CI field programs in maintaining and raising new German public funding and funding from German, Austrian or Swiss foundations in collaboration with CI’s Development Department.
  • Advertise new opportunities, review proposals and reports, develop new tools as necessary, respond to program requests for donor information, providing support in monitoring and reporting on German public funding sources and internal communications
  • Assist in the development of and successfully conduct relevant components of public funding training courses and reporting on German public funding sources and internal communication.

Working Conditions:

  • The position is based in CI Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
  • The position requires up to 25% travel, dometically and internationally to CI project sites and donors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:
