This position is part of the corporate marketing and communications function within the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB), which manages CI’s corporate partnerships. Working with the Senior Director and a team that includes media, editorial, and graphics design functions, as well as the broader CELB account team, this position plays a key role in engaging corporate partners: developing proposals and presentations, defining and implementing high-profile marketing and communications campaigns/initiatives/projects, and providing ongoing account management support and reporting. In addition, the manager will help maximize awareness for CELB, both internally and externally.

Position will interact with and often serve in a project management role vis a vis other divisions within CI, as well as corporate and NGO partners, to ensure successful project implementation and a high level of client satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with members of the CELB account team, serving as the project manager for marketing communications activities on designated accounts (e.g. Starbucks, Disney, Marriott, and PepsiCo). In this role, the Manager will interact with CI colleagues and corporate counterparts proactively to ideate, prioritize, implement, and manage the following:
  • Opportunities to reach the partners’ stakeholders, including consumers and employees, leveraging activities such as:
  1. Employee engagement campaigns and activities
  2. Cause-related marketing - Generate ideas and work to push these through with corporate partners to raise funding and awareness for CI
  3. Media/Social media
  • Opportunities to showcase CI’s work through different vehicles and channels (e.g. retail outlets, web, printed collateral, etc.).
  • Budget, reporting and amplification of programmatic/business practices projects.
  • The Manager will be responsible for providing general account support for marketing communications activities with a wide range of partners. Examples of this work include keeping up to speed on programmatic activities under the partnerships; managing the implementation of marketing and communications activities, developing briefing documents and FAQs, messaging, internal communications, fact sheets, executives summaries, and other collateral that reflects the partnership and work accomplished under it, and managing the process of reporting and developing reports for the donor related to the partnership’s marketing and communications work. This will include overseeing communications budgets for designated partnerships - understanding the allocation, priorities, and ensuring spending is in line with these priorities.
  • The Manager will play an important project management role, coordinating closely with other functions within CI including CELB’s account team, CI’s Marketing and Communications (M+C), field communicators, and the General Counsel’s Office (GCO). A key aspect of this will be, on an ongoing basis, engaging with M + C to understand CI’s overall marketing and brand strategies, and actively promoting them with corporate partners to ensure the work under these partnerships support CI’s marketing objectives and add value to the overall partnership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA in communications or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years project and/or account management experience in the marketing/communications realm.
  • Proven expertise working on a variety of communications campaigns and familiarity with different platforms (including print, broadcast, online, on-product, social media).
  • Must have excellent communications skills (verbal and written), ability to collaborate and coordinate as part of a matrixed team, and be an ace multi-tasker, balancing numerous projects and working autonomously.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude and commitment to excellent client service, while at the same time being comfortable with a “roll up your sleeves and get it done” attitude (e.g. performing his/her own administrative support tasks).

Preferred:
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit setting, as well as general understanding of environmental issues and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are helpful.
