Position Summary

The Manager, Cocoa Program, will be responsible for building the Rainforest Alliance's cocoa program in West Africa and increasing the number of Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa farms. This includes managing field consultants, coordinating producer training activities and developing and managing donor relationships. The Manager will also coordinate closely with and support other Rainforest Alliance departments in communications, development, marketing and impact monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee team in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, directing their work with farmers and ensuring that they have the necessary personnel, tools, materials and financial resources;
  • Define a strategy for West Africa, identify partner organizations and manage communications with existing and potential partners; undertake site visits as required;
  • Manage the existing cocoa projects, initiate and support the process of developing new projects; prepare donor reports as per contractual commitments and attend meetings with donors;
  • Maintain active dialogue with the broad group of cocoa stakeholders working in West Africa, including those managing other projects that offer collaboration opportunities;
  • Coordinate with the Sustainable Agriculture Auditing Services team to plan and implement activities to prepare producers for auditing for compliance with the Sustainable Agriculture Standard;
  • Coordinate with the Sustainable Value Chains (SVC) team to match supply and demand, manage supply data and facilitate SVC relations with traders and buyers;
  • Coordinate with the Evaluation and Research team to create systems to monitor and record results from our activities in the region;
  • Coordinate with the Communications, Marketing and Education division to provide information on project impacts and human stories of successes; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
