Description

The candidate will oversee the Patrolling and Law Enforcement Monitoring Teams of the Assam Forest Department and Aaranyak (NGO) enforcement activities to ensure effective implementation of SMART patrolling and LEM interventions to combat wildlife crime in Manas National Park. The incumbent will be an active member of a team committed to ensuring the protection of vulnerable tiger and rhino populations.

 

Principal responsibilities and duties

Patrol Monitoring

  • Coordinate with Forest Department on SMART patrol monitoring strategy design, planning, implementation and monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
  • Oversee the training, field implementation and reporting of SMART patrolling in the Sundarbans
  • Liaison with Forest Department, relevant law enforcement agencies, community groups and organizations in regional and range level for effective implementation of the SMART patrolling
  • Coordinate facilitating technical support for patrolling strategy development, planning, training and implementation.

Law enforcement monitoring

  • Coordinate law enforcement monitoring activity design, planning, implementation and progress monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
  • Oversee the preparation and dissemination of reports on law enforcement monitoring activities
  • Liaison with Forest Department, relevant law enforcement organizations for law enforcement monitoring interventions

Multi-LEA coordination

  • Multi LEA coordination strategy design, planning, implementation and progress monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
  • Prepare reports on multi LEAs coordination activities
  • Liaison with Forest Department and relevant LEAs to build and maintain relationship to ensure support for SMART patrolling and law enforcement monitoring activities

Project management

  • Perform, and oversee direct reports to perform project management for activities within own workstreams according to the processes and tools described in the Aaranyak project management manual
  • Perform, and oversee direct reports to perform operations management for operational work within own workstreams like procurement and financial reporting
  • Ensure smooth running of operational processes across operations and conservation programmes, identifying and fixing inefficiencies
  • Workstream/Team strategy development
  • Support in grant writing

Other

  • Perform other duties as maybe required
Qualifications

Qualifications and experience required

5 years of experience on below mentioned requirements are needed. MPA, MBA or other higher education studies in management may substitute for years of experience.

  • Proven Managerial Background
  • Experience in HR/ administrative/and financial management
  • Familiarity with conservation security issues
  • Familiarity with SMART Conservation Software
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and reporting skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to determine and designate tasks
  • Ambitious, self-starter, team oriented and have mentality to do work under pressure and in rural areas with limited facilities
