Manukau is New Zealand's third largest and fastest growing city, and home to approximately 360,000 people. Rapid population growth is mirrored by increasing diversity with over 165 different ethnic communities living and working in the area. It is also a vibrant young city with over 40 per cent of the population under the age of 25 years.

There are several senior positions that form part of the newly created structure of the management team within the Directorate. The successful individuals will play a pivotal part in developing professional and technical capability across their teams as well as leading cultural change in order to deliver consistent, quality focused outcomes.

We are looking for experienced management professionals who want to challenge the status quo, champion best practice across the Environment Directorate and bring fresh, creative and innovative ideas to the table.

Manager – Environmental Sustainability
This position provides leadership for the Environmental Sustainability team. This includes the development and implementation of policies that will enhance the monitoring and sustainability programme across Council.

• Policy and operational advice to Council
• Leadership and management within the Environmental Monitoring team
• Delivery of excellent services to customers (internal and external) and relationship management
• Preservation and championing of Environmental Sustainability

This role requires a strong strategic thinker who can combine their considerable experience within this area with fresh, creative and lateral thinking.
This role will require demonstrated capability in managing teams within Environmental Sustainability, relevant tertiary qualifications and ideally experience within local government.
