Description |
Internship purpose: ClientEarth’s work is funded by charitable trusts and foundations, government grants and a number of private philanthropic sources. We are currently expanding our Major Gifts programme and are seeking an enterprising intern to assist the development team with growing this critical stream of donor funding.
A key part of the role will be researching potential major donors to ClientEarth – identifying philanthropists, investigating the nature of their charitable giving, and assessing their propensity to give to a charity like ClientEarth. Working alongside our legal teams you will gain an understanding of ClientEarth’s programmes – which cover climate change and energy policy, the protection of oceans, biodiversity and tropical forests, access to justice in environmental issues, and health-related issues – and their funding needs, in order to match these successfully with donor interests and preferences.
The successful applicant will carry out a range of interesting duties, including:
About you:
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your fundraising skills and gain insight into how the law can be used to address critical environmental issues. You will be educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline, with a demonstrable interest in environmental issues and non-profit development. Experience of working or volunteering for a non-profit organisation, especially in a similar capacity to this role, would be advantageous. The position would suit someone with excellent researching abilities, especially using online resources to mine information, and an eye for detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are sound organisational skills and the ability to use your initiative.
Internship Arrangements: We ask that interns commit to a minimum of 3 days per week for at least three months. The maximum duration for internships is six months. In instances where interns are not working full time, they should ideally commit to set days each week.
ClientEarth cover interns’ work-related expenses (travel and lunch) via a contribution of £10 for each day spent in the office.
Recruitment is open now and you should send your application as soon as possible and no later than 27th April 2012.
Start date: As soon as possible.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Amy Evans (aevans@clientearth.org).
