Forest and Bird is New Zealand’s leading independent conservation organisation.  Since 1923, we have been advocating and speaking out for nature on land and in our seas, and co-ordinating community-based projects throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

Due to internal promotion we are on the hunt for an amazing Senior Fundraiser who can take ownership of three of our fundraising portfolios.

This full-time position of 40 hours per week based at our Wellington Office has become available due to an internal promotion.  It takes ownership for three of our fundraising portfolios – Major Gifts, Bequests, and Sponsorships. This role is not for the faint-hearted and will provide you with a level of challenge and variety you’ll be hard-pushed to find elsewhere!

A key component within this role includes identifying opportunities where we can raise funds to support our organisation to carry out our core purpose of conservation. These opportunities may be existing ones you can leverage or might be new ones you create. Your interpersonal skills will get a great work-out as you build authentic and enduring relationships with our awesome donors and supporters.

There will also be opportunities to demonstrate your other key attributes including monitoring and reporting, researching, fundraising copy preparation, and mentoring other staff. Also, when the boss (GM Fundraising & Membership) is away – you’ll step in as 2IC to hold the ship steady.

To be successful in the role you will need the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent);
  • A Fundraising qualification would be advantageous;
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience as a senior fundraiser with specialist knowledge in at least one of the fundraising portfolios - Major Gifts, Bequests or Sponsorship;
  • Well-honed relationship and interpersonal skills;
  • Personal skills including – organisation skills, project management skills, analysis experience;
  • Lastly - an unfaltering LOVE for fundraising, and immense RESPECT for the difference our donors make!

We are open to this role being based in Wellington or Auckland for the right person.

To apply, please email your CV and a covering letter to our HR Advisor, Susan James at s.james@forestandbird.org.nz . All applications will be acknowledged. Shortlisted applicants shall be required to complete an application form prior to an interview. The closing date for applications is 5pm, Sunday 10th June 2018.

Specific queries about this role should be directed to Jess Winchester, GM Fundraising & Membership on (04) 801 2219.
