The CliPoN project is a joint project of PIK's Research Domain 'Sustainable Solutions', the Centre for European Economic Research (Mannheim), the Chair of Economic Policy at the University Bielefeld and the Chair of Macroeconomics at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management. This research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) subject to final approval of funds) and aims to contribute to a better qualitative and quantitative understanding of the interconnected mechanisms of climate policy, trade, international technology diffusion, economic development, cross-country convergence and carbon leakage. It furthermore aims to examine the economic and environmental effectiveness of climate, trade and technology-related policy instruments in tackling climate change under different growth scenarios.
The research focus will be on the interaction of climate policies and the drivers of economic growth (technical progress, technology diffusion, structural change, foreign investments, trade) and on the exploration of measures and instruments that help to reconcile climate policy targets and economic development goals. Successful candidates are expected to participate in the regular project meetings and to present their results at national and international conferences.

Supporting the implementation of growth-relevant features and policy instruments in the energy-economy-climate model REMIND-R (http://www.pik-potsdam.de/research/sustainable-solutions/models/remind/remind-code) and using the knowledge derived from reduced form models for the parameterization of REMIND-R.
Desired skills: Expertise in one or more of the following fields: Economic growth theory (including technological and structural change and innovation), international economics, environmental and resource economics.
