We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced lawyer to help build up our EU Marine Programme. ClientEarth aims to help to stop the decline of biodiversity in the world’s oceans due to overfishing, pollution and development by working towards changing and improving existing and future laws on fisheries and marine protection in a holistic way, through strategic legal policy work, high-level lobbying and litigation at EU and national (and if necessary international) level. You will work as part of a team with a London-based lawyer, liaising closely with colleagues in both Brussels and London. Initially, the main focus of the work will be on the fundamental reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). In addition, the EU Marine Programme will examine the interaction between fisheries law and other EU legislation, the implementation and enforcement of fisheries and environmental laws in the marine context; and the transposition and implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
