SUMMARY

 CI has worked in Cambodia since 2002. We have multiple conservation projects in the Central Cardamom Mountains National Park (CCMNP), Tonle Sap Great Lake, Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, and in the Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park. CI works in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, other international conservation and development organizations, local non-governmental organizations and the private sector.

The Cambodia Landscapes Senior Manager will oversee CI’s support to three remote project sites in Cambodia, directly supervising planning, day to day and long-term management, financial, and administrative aspects of the Central Cardamoms Mountain National Park (CCMNP), Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park and Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary. The Landscapes Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring project results meet project standards and project deliverables are completed on time and within budget and is responsible for reporting to donors. S/he establishes the project work plan including staffing needs and supervises up to 5-6 employees.

The Landscapes Senior Manager will also develop new, innovative projects in protected area (PA) management in Cambodia and the region, writing or contributing technical knowledge to funding proposals, as well as peer reviewed and other journal articles, in collaboration with the Conservation Programs Senior Technical Director. S/he will work closely with the Country Director and the Conservations Programs Senior Technical Director and the CI-Cambodia Management Team to ensure management is aligned with CI’s objectives, develop new partnerships, and provide technical advice to relevant Cambodian national and provincial authorities and other conservation partners. S/he will pursue new possible projects and funding prospects from private, public, multilateral and foundation donors in forest governance, sustainable conservation financing, and livelihood development, and facilitate multi-stakeholder policy review of Cambodian forestry management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in natural resources management, protected area management, forest governance, conservation or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years related work experience in project management, including planning and budgeting.  
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience supervising others and managing and motivating multi-cultural teams.
  • Field experience and knowledge of protected area management and biological research and monitoring.
  • Understanding of the economic and environmental issues facing developing countries and the local communities strongly preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify solutions.
  • Strong written communication skills. Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, set priorities, and deliver quality results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; problem solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
