Due to expanding operations and increased workload, there is a requirement for a Junior Fish Habitat Biologist in our Calgary, Alberta office.

As a Junior Fish Habitat Biologist, the candidate will be responsible for:

Preparing proposals and reports;
Managing projects or tasks within larger projects;
Liaising with clients;
Conducting fish and fish habitat evaluations for various types of developments including power, mines, forestry, oil and gas facilities and pipelines;
Developing fish habitat no net loss strategies/habitat compensation plans and preparing fish and fish habitat environmental impact assessments.
Assisting with preparation of proposals and reports;
Conducting literature reviews;
Entering data and conduct data and statistical analysis;
Manage technical staff.
Performing data and statistical analysis;

The successful candidate will possess:

A minimum requirement of a Master’s degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences with 1 year of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience.
Excellent technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Understanding of basic fish and fish habitat sampling techniques.

In addition, it would be beneficial for the candidate to possess the following:

Consulting industry experience with working knowledge of fisheries requirements related to industrial developments and their impacts.
Strong working knowledge of aquatic ecosystems within Canada.
Good outdoor and survival skills and experience working in remote areas.
Experience operating backpack and boat electrofishers.
Experience operating quads, snowmobiles, and boats.
