ERM is seeking a Junior Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Consultant to join our growing consulting team in downtown Manhattan in New York. In this role, you will provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, environmental management system, sustainability, and due diligence transaction projects for clients throughout the Northeast. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental management projects for large industrial and global clients. Formal training is led by ERM's national Performance & Assurance and Sustainability experts to share best practices across the industry and provide ongoing learning opportunities for our team.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, environmental management system, sustainability, and due diligence transaction projects.
  • Develop environmental compliance programs, plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Design and implement environmental/health & safety/sustainability management systems and programs for corporate clients.
  • Assist in developing practical and measurable sustainability programs and climate change programs (including vision, goals, reduction targets, metrics), GHG inventory development and verification, carbon footprinting, energy efficiency, and life cycle analysis.
  • Provide on-site EHS compliance support at client facilities.
  • Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments to support property due diligence transactions.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.
  • Communicate with clients, ERM employees, and vendors.
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelors or masters degree in engineering, environmental science, business administration or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience in consulting, corporate, industrial, or government environment. 
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations.  
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus
  •  Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision. (Some travel is required to support a wide array of projects and clients.)
  • Experience with ISO 14001, BSI 18001 or other process improvement systems desired.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency, or other sustainability metrics a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Local candidates preferred.
