Conservation International is seeking a Storage (SAN) Administrator to join our team. This position is located in Crystal City Virginia in our Headquarters facility. The qualified applicant will become part of the CI team working to lead our Backup and Recovery efforts in the Data Center to ensure that our Storage Area Network and global data are safeguarded against disaster.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of the Enterprise Network, and works with other members of the Infrastructure and Applications teams who specialize on the servers and apps. Successful applicants will be able to work in an environment that is constantly in transition, have strong time management skills and the proven capacity to manage and maintain HP EVA Storage Systems. Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus IOS will be required as well in order to manage the Cisco SAN switch fabric. Self-starter with passion for backup and disaster recovery is a key characteristic for the successful applicant.

  • Provision storage as requested for hosts, and respond to, isolate and resolve issues related to the storage environment in a timely manner. Address all escalated incidents and conduct root cause analysis of the problem(s). These tasks may include after-hours work onsite.
  • Work closely with the team to help plan and design future systems to ensure they maximize the utilization of the storage systems and other infrastructure available. Make best-practice recommendations related to defining file structure and storage de-duplication methodologies.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work will be performed at the Crystal City Headquarters building. Travel will be minimal but there may be an opportunity to travel to a field site in another country. Must be able to obtain a passport / visa for travel if requested. Light lifting of computer and storage components will be required, but nothing over 50 pounds without assistance. There is a potential for telecommuting once established in the position. Close proximity to the Crystal City HQ site is a plus, so storage-related emergencies can be acted upon quickly.
