The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NRE) is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL’s Strategic Energy Analysis Center has an immediate opening for a graduate student internship. The position is part-time (10 to 20 hours per week) during the school year and full time (40 hours per week) during the summer/school breaks. The student will support the development of a clean energy policy website and possible additional international projects.

The Clean Energy Solutions Center (www.cleanenergysolutions.org) helps governments turn clean energy visions into reality. It serves as a virtual clearinghouse of clean energy policy information and tools, and leverages assistance of global partners to offer policy best practices, peer-to-peer learning, remote expert assistance, and online training. The Clean Energy Solutions Center was designed and is supported by a unique partnership between the Clean Energy Ministerial and the United Nations inter-agency energy mechanism (UN-Energy).
The research intern will assist with a variety of activities including developing policy-relevant content for clean energy policy makers around the world, creating country-specific programs and training materials for Solutions Center partners, webinar coordination, designing point presentations, publishing an online newsletter, and other site enhancements and reporting of project progress. Opportunities for research and writing original content will be dependent on student’s level of knowledge of clean energy technologies and policies.
Must be enrolled as a full-time student.

Graduate students enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours.

Undergraduate students enrolled in a minimum of twelve credit hours.

Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
Excellent written and oral communications. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet research techniques.

Must be familiar with clean energy technologies and policies.

Graduate degree-seeking student.

Must be able to work 40 hours per week in our Golden, Colorado office during summer and school breaks, and 10 to 20 hours during the school year.
Knowledge of Drupal.

Work experience in the clean energy industry.

A bachelor or master’s degree in policy, international studies, foreign relations, environmental science, political science or English.
