Under the guidance of Eurogroup’s Director you will develop a strategy to integrate animal welfare considerations and requirements in the EU Trade Policy. You work in a small international team of experts with the support of the largest animal protection groups in the world. As an enthousiastic lobbyist, these are your responsibilities: * Monitor the EU trade policy and provide updates for colleagues and members. * Develop contacts within EU institutions on relevant trade issues which may have the potential to impact on animals. * Provide strategic intelligence and guidance on trade policy. * Maintain a watching brief on WTO developments in particular possible panels relating to animal welfare or environment protection. * Create a network with like-minded NGOs, businesses and government contacts. * Create opportunities, tools and publications for target audiences to become familiar with the benefits of animal welfare for trade and sustainable development. * Integrate animal welfare requirements in bilateral trade agreements between EU and third countries. * Liaise and coordinate activities with Eurogroup member organisations. * Develop the existing Transatlantic Animal Welfare Council to ensure animal welfare issues are promoted. Skills and competences you should ideally possess: * University degree, preferably in international law, economics or equivalent by experience. * At least 10 years professional experience, preferably in an international policy making environment or government relations. * Knowledge of trade policy, interest or experience in agricultural policy. * Environment and/or animal welfare advocacy is an advantage. * Good writing and presentation skills. * Diplomatic, outgoing self-starter with proven track record of working within complex international environments. * Strong networking & negotiation skills. * Ability to translate complex issues into easy to understand messages for a variety of audiences. * Well presented and comfortable with dealing with people from all levels and cultures. * Fluent in spoken and written English (mother tongue level), good knowledge of French and preferably another EU language. * Willing to travel.
