The Data Division is seeking an intern to assist in the day-to-day service and support of the data systems. The intern’s responsibilities will include conducting a data-focused project that will add value to our external business partnerships or our internal work and providing support for current Data Division work. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Data Project Manager. Fishwise would like to leverage the intern’s strengths and interests to create a work stream that aligns the goals of FishWise and the intern.
Responsibilities
- Perform analyses of seafood product and source data with regards to sustainability, traceability, and social risk
- Help create a dashboard of product and source sustainability information which can be customized by vendor
- Work to improve UI and workflow in our data management platforms
- Provide general support to data team
- Ensure standardization and accuracy of data
- Complete research tasks and summarize key information
- Contribute ideas and participate in team discussion to improve FishWise’s system and inform strategic priorities
- Provide general support to organization-wide tasks and initiatives
- Develop additional independent projects based on personal interests in data management, data analysis, and seafood sustainability
Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience with Filemaker or other data management platforms
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- Excellent Mac-computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and Google Docs
- Self-starter, flexible, motivated, and able to work with limited oversight
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and independently
- Passion for the ocean and seafood sustainability
Hours & Requirements
- This is a temporary, part-time paid position based in the FishWise office in Santa Cruz, CA
- Duration of internship is 3 months
- Office hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required
- Personal transportation is required
- United States work authorization required
