Hydropower Mechanical Design Engineer, UK

My client is a consultancy company that works throughout the world in the renewable energy sector. They are focused on the management, development and engineering side of the renewable energy projects.

They are currently looking  for a candidate with industry experience that can work as a hydropower mechanical design engineer the ideal candidate will not only be an experienced mechanical engineer but have experience and an interest in the design of hydropower turbines. The candidate will have a very strong background in mechanical engineering.

Key Responsibilities

•              Design and development of hydroelectric projects from a mechanical standpoint

•              Required to perform feasibility and pre-feasibility studies for the renewable energy project with other key project engineers

•              Provide input into the design and implementation process of the hydroelectric project utilising mechanical processes

•              Perform due diligence advice and services when required as part of a particular project audits and present results to relevant managers

•              Have involvement in the commissioning and liaising with developers and clients

•              Manage hydropower project teams and understand the legal requirements and regulations of the environmental projects

•              Work alongside other key engineers as part of a team in the development of hydropower plants throughout the world.

Key Skills

•              Experience working as a mechanical engineering consultant on renewable energy projects preferably hydropower

•              Strong experience working as a mechanical engineer and working through the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects

•              A minimum BSc in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree

•              Experience working as a consultant on environmental and / or renewable energy projects

•              Excellent communication and report writing skills

Desirable Attributes

•              Ability to travel for extended periods of time

•              Knowledge of related regulatory issues

•              A strong desire to work to the highest quality and standards in order to maintain the reputation of the company

•              Highly organised with a proven ability to project manage where necessary

•              Ideally the candidate would be a member of relative professional institutions

•              Strong desire to work on design projects
