The job purpose is to manage the Health, Safety & Environment agenda across two head office site, setting the direction with a view to reducing risk and injury to ensure that all employees at the site are working in a safe and secure working environment.
The Role is to set up and achieve Level 1 ERP certification in 2008, with ongoing improvements over the next 3-5 years
·Ensure legal compliance to H&S legislation, ensuring appropriate communications with HSE.
·Reduce all accidents, severity rate and combined RIDDOR & LTI rate across all sites
·Set up & achieve full compliance to ISO14001 in 2009 and ongoing.
·Play an active role in the Pepsico’s Environmental & Health &Safety Steering Group forums, creating policy and devising the tactical steps required to achieve our targets.
·Manage Utilities at Head Office delivering 3% savings year on year; this includes the building of budgets for AOP for utilities.
·3rd party management to ensure all our Maintenance and Engineering projects are delivered to a high standard, are adhering to H&S requirements and have minimal impact to employees on site
·Partner the green team to provide direction & capability build to enable them to deliver plans that will support the overall International UK Environmental priorities both at site & domestically
·Manage 3rd Party security contracts to ensure that the building & employees are kept secure and we are delivering to our crisis management audit standards
·Ongoing support to all 3rd party contractors & sub contractors to ensure they are delivering to both our H&S and ISO14001 standards
·Develop a pro-active Health & Safety culture at the site by ensuring individuals are aware of their responsibilities and by establishing SAT teams to drive the ownership out into the business
·Coach Line managers and senior managers on their roles and responsibilities in relation to the agenda
·Directly responsible for a health and safety technician + first aiders, fire wardens and Pepsico green team indirectly.
The Person will be:
·Degree or equivalent educational standard and NEBOSH qualification would be desirable
·H&S practitioner experience
·Thorough understanding of H&S regulatory requirements within the UK
·Risk assessment experience.
·Experience auditing Health and Safety systems.
·Strong analytical and thinking skills
·A basic understanding of environmental aspects and impacts.
·Strong project management skills
·Ability to influence at all levels in the organisation
·High levels of autonomy & independence in role
