Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Director General of the OIE, the candidate will assume responsibility for the following:
I. management of the personnel and activities of the Scientific and Technical Department. II. organisation and support of meetings of Specialist Commissions (Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases, Biological Standards Commission, Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission for the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Aquatic Animals), Working Group (Wildlife Diseases), Ad hoc Groups, and scientific conferences, seminars and meetings organised by the department. III. implementation of follow-up actions requested by the aforementioned Specialist Commissions and Working Group. Coordination of Ad hoc Groups activities related with these actions. IV. supervision, in close collaboration with the Biological Standards Commission, of the updating of the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals and publication of this Manual; and with the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission, of the updating of the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Aquatic Animals and publication of this Manual. V. supervision of the official process for recognition of the sanitary status of Member Countries and Territories. VI. supervision of registration and validation of diagnostic assays. VII. supervision of the activities of OIE Reference Laboratories and Collaborating Centres and animation of this network ; management of the twinning programme and the OFFLU network. VIII. suggesting subjects and authors for the papers that are to be published in OIE scientific and technical publications. IX. advising the Director General of the OIE on scientific and technical matters related to OIE activities. Perspective to be nominated Deputy Director General (Animal Health and International Standards) after a short period. X. providing answers to the OIE Member Countries on scientific and technical matters related to OIE activities. XI. representing the Director General of the OIE when necessary at relevant international conferences and meetings. XI. carrying out any other duties within his/her professional competence as requested by the Director General of the OIE. |
