My client is a leading international manufacturing company specializing in solar photovoltaic wafers and modules and also producing tracking solutions which are resistant to external conditions such as weather. They provide complete turnkey solutions for large/utility scale solar PV power plants across Europe, and are particularly focusing on Italy, France and Germany. Owing to their exciting expansion plan, they need to recruit a Head of Business Development for Italy to be based in Rome.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Heading up all business development efforts for solar PV power plants and sales of modules within Italy
- Working in conjunction with the Heads of France and Germany business development in order to streamline the business’s growth throughout Europe
- Performing a multifaceted function including sales as well as business development
- Working closely with the direct Sales professionals as well as distributors affiliated with the company
- Overseeing business development associates to generate leads and convert these
- Carefully monitoring the market, and any general trends as well as particular shifts in direction, in order to stay competitive and ahead of the competition and establish the company as one of the leading players in Italy for solar PV
- Travelling frequently throughout Italy
- Reporting directly into the Head of Europe for the whole company
- Taking strategic business decisions relating to project development, sales, financing and recruitment
- Ensuring all projects undertaken have undergone the relevant due diligence, feasibility studies, documentation, commercial contracts etc
- Taking responsibility for managing important relationships with suppliers, clients, financial institutions and other 3rd parties
Skills and qualifications needed:
- Degree in business administration, marketing or commerce – bachelor’s or masters although MBA graduates would be welcome within the above pay scale
- Strong, proven experience in the solar photovoltaic market in Italy, must be willing to live/work in Rome
- Fluency in Italian and English (spoken and written) is a must
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in solar PV business development in the Italian market focusing on large scale solar photovoltaic power plants
- Excellent team player, ambitious and quick to respond, good at working to deadlines
- Passionate about renewable energy, especially solar PV power
- Experience of documentation relating to due diligence, commercial negotiations, financing, permitting etc in Italy for solar photovoltaic power plants
