Description

My client is a leading wind energy project developer. They currently have a pipeline for several projects and require an expansion of their team. Over the years they have developed multi-megawatt projects and their consistent track record has lead to them being one of the market leaders in the US.

 

Position Overview:

The  head of planning and development will lead their team of developers through the initial stages of a wind farm project, this will suit a commercially minded individual who is looking for their next career move. You will report directly to the director of development and work closely with a number of major players in the wind sector

 

Responsibilities:

  • ·         You will analysis the data provided by the technical support team in order to determine site suitability
  • ·         You will manage a team that will be working across a large number of sites across the west coast of the USA
  • ·         As a senior level team member you will work closely with the Vice President and CEO in order to encourage the expansion of the company through an understanding of the requirements of the wind farm development industry
  • ·         As a team leader you will travel throughout the west coast visiting sites for wind farm projects to be constructed and determining their suitability for potential projects
  • ·         Be involved in the preparing of EIA(environmental impact assessments) statements and feasibility studies in order to ensure that  projects goes through to fruition
  • ·         As a informed wind expert you will work on an advisory role to communities and those around you
  • ·         You will utilise your knowledge that will be gained through training across a variety of projects
  • ·         You will work with key staff in order to train and develop projects encouraging the growth of the company and your career progression within the sector
  • ·         You be will encouraged to use your problem solving skills and develop them further as you progress within your career
  • ·         A key player from origination to execution, with control over land sourcing and deal making, investment strategy and project delivery

 

 

Education:

You will have a relevant degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering or environmental management

 

Core Requirements:

  • ·         A strong background working in the onshore wind market and a passion to see it grow
  • ·         Experience working with and liaising and negotiating with a variety of clients and investors involved in the projects
  • ·         Excellent skills working in a senior position within the renewable energy sector
  • ·         Strong level of ambition in a desire to progress within a role and stay with a company for
  • ·         A strong commercial background and a desire to advance this skill set.

 

General requirements

  • ·         Will have 5 years experience in the onshore energy market
  • ·         Strong experience in feasibility studies, EIA and renewable energy policy
  • ·         A technical background working on wind farm projects
  • ·         Excellent communication, written and presentation skills
  • ·         Fluent in English (written and verbal)

 

Key Skills:-

EIA, feasibility and pre-feasibility study experience and onshore wind experience, wind farm development and wind sector management
