Description

Here at the Ramblers we’re passionate about helping everyone everywhere find their feet, connecting people and protecting the spaces we all love to walk.  Join Britain’s biggest walking charity to help more people enjoy the benefits of walking!

  • The Ramblers is entering an exciting time of change - and the new Membership and Fundraising team is at the centre of the action!  We’re looking for an exceptional candidate to bring strategic leadership, support and challenge to a growing fundraising team during a time of transition, where the diversification of income streams, the reawakening of our individual giving and legacy fundraising, and a new and significant partnership with the Peoples’ Postcode Lottery means that our fundraising team will be responsible for generating a significant percentage of the Ramblers charitable income in the years ahead.  Are you up for the challenge?!
  • We are looking for a highly skilled Head of Fundraising.  This is a senior role within the new Membership and Fundraising team, reporting to the Director of Membership and Fundraising. You will be expected to lead from the front, during a time of organisational change, to build a sustainable, long-term fundraising strategy, building a strong case for support that is aligned to the Ramblers strategic priorities and vision.
  • You will lead and shape emerging work streams that feed into a successful multi-channel fundraising function, ensuring that the Ramblers diversifies its income from corporate partnerships, trusts, foundations, legacy programmes, individual giving appeals and as a licensed society lottery (via Peoples’ Postcode Lottery).  You will ensure Ramblers programmes are prioritised against potential funding opportunities to deliver impact.
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with the new Head of Membership and Head of Engagement to build a strong case for support, and an integrated single supporter view to grow the Ramblers reach, relevance and impact. You will reignite our individual giving and legacy fundraising programmes, increasing engagement from loyal supporters to grow the lifetime value from those who passionately support our cause.
  • You will be a key stakeholder in the Data & Digital Transformation programme, using evidence-based insights to inform strategy.

This is an exciting time to join the Ramblers team and a great opportunity to make a lasting and tangible impact on the future success of the charity.  If you think you’ve got what it takes to be our new Head of Fundraising, we’d love to hear from you.

Essential Requirements include:

  • A standout leader and experienced fundraising professional, with an impressive track record and more than 5 years’ experience in securing funds from individuals, corporates, trusts, foundations and society lotteries.
  • Expertise and a proven track record in leading fundraising development and delivery in a similar organisation; experienced in optimising the many elements required to deliver a healthy, effective fundraising function.
  • A connected networker and influencer, familiar with the current fundraising landscape, approaches and techniques.
  • Experience in leading donor relationship management programmes and database marketing and development.
  • Significant experience in team leadership, performance management and professional development to maximise team wellbeing and effectiveness.
  • Experience in driving effective, lasting change, bringing others with you.
  • A team player, able to develop collaborative, strong and effective working relationships.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence effectively, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and implement robust business cases and financial budgets to deliver a healthy return on investment.
  • Proven experience in analysing complex data, to inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience in developing robust performance indicators, measures and reporting frameworks.
  • Project management experience: resulting in high impact and enduring value creation.
  • Experience in building integrated supporter journeys, using targeted multi-channel marketing strategies (including digital) to drive growth (acquisition) and engagement (retention) with a strong ROI.
  • Experience of strategic development of customer relationship management platforms.
  • Digitally savvy, an early adopter of new technologies and a competence user of MS office, social media and data analytics tools Innovative and solutions-focussed, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in navigating and complying with the regulatory landscape for fundraising.
