Introduction: We seek someone to serve as the Program Coordinator for the Hawai‘i Landscape-scale Mosquito Control Program. This program is evaluating the potential for the Incompatible Insect Technique to be safely used to suppress mosquito populations at a landscape-scale in Hawai‘i. The program's goal is to advance this technology to protect Hawai‘i's native forest birds from deadly diseases transmitted by introduced mosquitoes; this approach could also potentially be applied to protect human health by stopping mosquito transmission of diseases such as dengue fever and Zika. A broad coalition of entities is working on this issue and the Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining communication among these groups/individuals and making sure the key steps are progressing as planned. A critical role for the coordinator will include managing the regulatory and permitting processes associated with each step of the project. The Program Coordinator will report to the Hawai‘i Program Director at American Bird Conservancy and work primarily with the Steering Committee for Landscape-scale Mosquito Control. Position Requirements: The successful applicant will be skilled at interacting with a wide diversity of stakeholders, from community members, to state and federal staff, regulatory and environmental compliance officials, elected officials and others. An ability to translate complex and controversial scientific issues into accessible and engaging presentations and conversations is mandatory. This person must be driven to achieve the project goals and find solutions to obstacles, yet do so with patience and grace in their interactions with stakeholders and partners. Key skills:
