Description |
The World Land Trust has supported land purchase and ecological restoration in three distinct areas in Paraguay: the Dry Chaco, Chaco-Pantanal and the Atlantic Forest through local project partners Guyra Paraguay. Guyra Paraguay is a successful NGO whose mission is to lead, promote and co-ordinate conservation action and the sustainable use of biodiversity in Paraguay. Guyra Paraguay is seeking a volunteer to help write grant applications and fundraising proposals. This would entail a minimum commitment of 4, preferably 6, months working as part of the small and friendly Guyra team in Asuncion, Paraguay. There may be some opportunity to visit project sites during this time, but it should be understood that this is largely an office based position. The volunteer may also be required to spend a week working in the World Land Trust office in Halesworth, Suffolk, prior to going out to Paraguay. The volunteer will be a science graduate, or equivalent, and speak English as their first language. They will need to be self-reliant, organised and motivated, with excellent literacy and communication skills. Ideally they will have a proven record of successful grant applications and experience of travelling, volunteering and/or working overseas, preferably in Latin America. Although grant applications will be in English, a working knowledge of spoken Spanish, at least, would be a distinct advantage. This is an unpaid volunteer position. Accommodation whilst in Paraguay and a small monthly stipend will be provided by Guyra. The World Land Trust will cover airfare to Paraguay and accommodation during the week working in Halesworth. The volunteer will be responsible for other expenses, including insurance, vaccinations and visas if required. Please note the start date for this position is flexible, depending on the right candidate. The closing date for applications is the Wednesday 8th April, with interviews hopefully being held in Halesworth on the week commencing 20th April. Please send your C.V. and covering letter, clearly indicating grant writing experience and level of Spanish, to: Jenny Chattington Operating Officer Email: JChattington@worldlandtrust.orgWorld Land TrustBlyth HouseBridge StreetHalesworthSuffolkIP19 8ETTel: 01986 874422 |
