Role purpose:

AEA Consultants apply their excellent consultancy skills to help customers solve problems.

The role of Analyst Technical Consultant - provides the entry point to the world of Consultancy at AEA. Working closely with other colleagues, Analysts gather information and perform initial analysis requiring a use and understanding of consulting models and methodologies.  They assist other more experienced consultants with delegated tasks to deliver projects that meet their customer’s requirement. Analysts have a good knowledge of commercial imperatives coupled with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.

Analyst Technical Consultants will support more experienced staff on a variety of projects for both the public and private sector.

The role will provide support to meet an increasing demand from Government and Industry in the UK for expertise in assessing CHP and District Heating Schemes in terms of their technical and economic performance and assessing the policy opportunities for encouraging the uptake of CHP and District Heating.  Analysts are generally recent graduates or new to consulting.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills:

• The ability to conduct research, gather information and analyse data
• Assist other more experienced colleagues to deliver quality projects to time and cost
• Strong understanding of heat supply systems and energy balance
• PC literate, particularly on working with spreadsheets
• Ability to organise time effectively and record details accurately.
• Good problem solving skills
• The ability to work to commercial imperatives
• Excellent team player, the post holder will work as part of a team.


The Person:

• Mechanical, processes or chemical engineering graduate, keen to learn how to  carry out CHP/community heating feasibility studies and evaluate energy supply systems performance
• A strong  interest, in government policies relating to heat supply, CHP and the market and regulatory framework
• Have some understanding of industrial CHP (in particular steam systems) and building applications
• Have good attention to detail, some report writing experience and with the ability to assimilate information quickly
