OpenHydro's two-year program has been specifically designed to give engineering graduates a broad range of experiences and a good technical foundation across many areas of OpenHydro's business. With this newly developed program, graduates can rotate within their own area and, occasionally, may have the opportunity to gain experience in a department outside of their own.
What happens when you start?
Successful candidates will be welcomed into life at OpenHydro with a complete induction, which includes a comprehensive overview of the company history and capabilities, health and safety, as well as legal and administrative requirements. Graduates get the opportunity to meet with fellow employees and managers who will help with the transition into the company. All graduates will be assigned a ‘buddy’ or ‘mentor’ for the duration of the rotation program – someone they can talk to informally about the company, expectations, and questions about the role itself.
Where will you be located?
While most of each rotation will be spent at the main Technical centre in Greenore, Co. Louth, rotations in the Operations/Projects groups may require temporary assignments to project locations internationally. When graduates are required to work overseas, all accommodation and travel costs are borne by OpenHydro.
Training courses and learning opportunities
As an Engineers Ireland CPD accredited employer, OpenHydro is committed to the training and development of all employees. Graduates in particular will experience a variety of training and development opportunities during their first two years with the company. For those graduates demonstrating the required commitment and potential, the company supports their participation on the entry-level Future Professionals Program run by Engineers Ireland. In addition, there will be extensive ‘on-the-job’ training as well as the opportunity to participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
Completion of the Program
Following successful completion of the rotation program, it is OpenHydro’s hope that you would be offered a permanent role with the company.
