The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) is seeking a motivated individual with strong communication skills for an 11-month full-time internship at the NWF’s Pacific Regional Center (PRC) in Seattle, WA.

Our conservation work focuses on three major areas that will have the biggest impact on the future of America’s wildlife: Global Warming; Safeguarding Wildlife from the Effects of Climate Change; and Connecting People with Nature. The Global Warming Intern will assist in advancing our efforts in these principle areas:

Help fish and wildlife adapt to climate change
• Contribute to the development the statewide adaptation response strategy
• Produce educational materials and reports related to climate impacts and adaptation responses
• Assist in researching scientific literature to produce technical documents and reports related to climate impacts.
• Promote adaptation actions by federal, state and private entities

Protect floodplains and riparian corridors
• Help NWF define ways to monitor federal, state and local agencies to ensure their floodplain management policies protect fish and wildlife, reduce flood risk, and maintain clean water
• Produce educational materials and reports related to floodplain protection and the need to improve floodplain policies.
• Research and provide internet-based research and compiling information for various audiences.
• Develop and promote statewide floodplain legislation.
Re-connect families with nature
• Assist in research projects and produce education materials and reports
• Assist at events, fundraisers and other meetings.
• Provide support to staff as requested.
• Update facebook and twitter sites weekly with information related to NWF programs, events and regional objectives. ?
