GIS Specialist, Air & Environmental Quality Practice
Location: London, or Harwell, Oxon
Protecting the air we breathe isn’t easy but through independent and expert technical support on policy, strategy and on-the-ground implementation, AEA’s Air and Environmental Quality practice has been helping governments and businesses do just that for nearly four decades.
When governments or businesses require help in protecting our air and environmental quality, they need experts who understand the complete and at times complex chain of evidence - from pollution emission to its human and environmental impact. They need experts who can provide accurate pollutant measurements and detailed emissions inventories and who can provide models to show how this pollution will move through the environment reacting chemically and physically across. Additionally, they need experts who understand how populations and ecosystems will be exposed to pollution may be impacted. The ability to present such complex information to the public in ways that help them understand the risks to their health and impact on the environment is increasingly important.
Today, we have evolved into a practice area with some 100 scientific, consulting and technical staff; we continue to deliver pioneering work and successful client solutions.
We are now looking to expand the team and our capability through additional GIS expertise. We are therefore seeking a GIS Specialist with experience in conceptual environmental data modelling. Our particular focus is on mapping and visualising air pollution data relating to emissions, concentrations and population exposure.

The purpose of the role will be to implement and support desktop and web-based GIS solutions on projects (with internal and external interfaces). As a GIS Specialist the candidate will be expected to provide advice and guidance to others on data manipulation, spatial data processing and modelling.
