ENVIRON is seeking candidates for an entry-level or mid-level geographic information systems analyst or environmental scientist with strong GIS skills for our Chicago, Illinois or Ann Arbor, Michigan office. Primary duties of this position will include assisting senior staff and clients of the firm with spatial data management, map production, spatial analyses, and data visualization using ArcGIS, and other geospatial or modeling software. Additional duties may include: general information technology support, data analysis, and research related to environmental impact assessments, threatened and endangered species assessments, natural resource surveys and sampling, restoration projects, and ecological risk assessments. Occasional travel may be required.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Creation, editing, and maintenance of geospatial data
- Geospatial visualization and modeling of surface and ground water data
- Delineation of contaminated soil and sediment areas
- LiDAR and bathymetric data processing
- Map layout and design
- Remote sensing technologies integration
- Wetland functional assessments and delineation support
- Environmental review (NEPA) and permitting support
- Evaluation of remedial and restoration alternatives
- Natural Resource Damage Assessment support
- Ecological Risk Assessment support
