Geographical Information Systems Project Officer Job Type: Full time 12 month temporary contract subject to probation Salary: Competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience Start Date: 06th October 2014 Location: Belfast Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Key Responsibilities: The GIS Project Officer will provide an essential service to our wind analysis, planning and business development teams working on numerous projects throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Duties will include:
- Undertaking detailed land folio searches;
- Preparing professional maps / drawings for inclusion in legal documents;
- Interpreting source documents such as civil engineering drawings to prepare detailed layouts;
- Follow existing procedural documents;
- Edit, digitise, and update records and other data layers (graphic and attributes);
- Environmental data analysis;
- Preparing wireframes and photomontages;
- Undertaking ZTV and detailed Shadow Flicker Assessments;
- Conduct detailed site scoping / assessment exercises; and
- Generating other maps/renderings that aide business functions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A primary GIS degree or a degree in a relative discipline (e.g. Geography, Planning, Surveying or Engineering);
- 2+ years experience working in a GIS capacity;
- Experienced and proficient in ArcGIS version 10.2.
Skills Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task, manage workload effectively and work to dynamic and changing priorities;
- Must be independent and capable of taking ownership of allocated tasks;
- Willing to attend sites visits i.e. to GPS locate existing features/represent the company at meetings with various legislative and governmental bodies.
- Experience using / or have the aptitude to learn the following specialist GIS software packages Global Mapper; ReSoft Wind Farmer and GL GH Wind Farmer.
- Have an interest in the renewable energy industry.
- The successful candidate must be resourceful and willing to take on responsibilities outside those defined by their primary role.
- A clean driving license, access to their own transport and willingness to travel.
