Group Definition: Fisheries Technicians perform duties related to the protection, preservation, propagation, and sampling of fish species and the preservation or enhancement of their habitat. They use knowledge of procedural requirements and processes to support the technical work of their unit. They provide practical technical support to research, operations, or program administration efforts.

Essential Functions:
Crew Member will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of research project, including: capturing and tagging fish; performing boat-based telemetry surveys; maintaining and downloading data from telemetry equipment; and maintaining field equipment. Work will often be performed in Class 2+ whitewater, involves extensive boating (both motorized jet craft and paddle craft), requires swimming in cold water and swift currents, and employees may be subject to extended periods of exposure to adverse weather, sun or other environmental hazards.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Two years of college with at least 10 semester hours (or equivalent) in biology, environmental sciences, natural resource management, or physical sciences; valid California drivers license; good driving record; health consistent with performing strenuous field work (i.e., hiking, wading, swimming, and ability to lift and carry 40-50 pounds for extended periods); willingness to travel for extended periods, work irregular hours, long days, weekends, and in adverse weather.
