Provide accounting, basic financial management, financial reporting, treasury, payroll and audit support to four IFAW Offices in Europe. Work in close coordination with the IFAW Controller and other headquarters Finance staff.
Responsibilities:
Accounting, Reporting and Financial Management
Process transactions in the financial system ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations with a primary focus on the supported offices depository and operating bank accounts.
Provide support to staff in Supported Offices with the application of scanning and document retrieval technologies to gain efficiencies in financial processing. Responsible for ensuring that legally required financial documentation resides in originating offices.
Provide regular and ad hoc reporting to Country Directors and other local Managers to support financial management and budget monitoring. Provide technical guidance and support to budget monitoring and preparation.
Lead and/or liaise with the US/Headquarters Finance office for audit, tax and other compliance issues for all companies supported by the Financial Service Center.
Treasury and Banking
Initiate disbursements utilizing the global treasury banking platform.
Manage cash flow requirements and monitor banking on the global treasury banking platform.
Advise and support the implementation of European based business and banking practices to support policy and procedure revisions to ensure efficient and current systems.
Administer IFAW’s Financial Transaction Compliance Program to ensure compliance with sanctioned or prohibited party lists.
Other
Provide input to the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and Treasurer as a key member of the Global Finance team.
Lead or serve on project teams for local or global Finance Department initiatives.
Dotted line reporting relationship with Country Director, Netherlands.
Requirements:
Seven years of accounting experience.
Excellent written and oral language skills in English, French, Dutch, and German.
Extensive knowledge of European banking and related systems included SEPA.
Non-profit experience beneficial.
Experience with ERP systems. Oracle Financials experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of accounting principles and operating controls.
Ability to work within systems as a senior administrator, advising on good practice and suggesting local solutions to financial management issues.
