APS Level 1/2 - Christmas Island Duties: 1. Under direction of the Field Supervisor, implement field based components of the Christmas Island Minesite to Forest Rehabilitation (CIMFR) Program in Christmas Island National Park, including:· Collection, propagation and maintenance of nursery stock;· Preparation, planting, fertilizing and maintenance of rehabilitation sites; · Weed control using appropriate chemical applications and a variety of equipment, including brush cutters, machetes, chainsaws and back pack sprayers; and · Survey and monitoring of flora and fauna species, collection of field data and entry in to the Christmas Island Geographic Information System as required2. Maintain and safely operate field equipment as directed by supervisor.3. Safely use, handle and store materials, including fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides. 4. Effectively contribute as a member of a team and assist with other activities within the Park, including invasive species management (in particular yellow crazy ants and weeds), flora and fauna monitoring programs, crab migration management, compliance and education activities, occupational health and safety and general park operations. |
