Field Aquatic Ecologist / Technician

Nature Glenelg Trust is a not-for-profit conservation organisation committed to filling gaps, problem solving, positive action, and working with the community and our partners to achieve tangible and lasting on-ground results. We have a strong focus on wetland restoration and the conservation of aquatic species, and we operate across southeastern Australia. We currently have 30 staff based across South Australia, western Victoria and Tasmania.  We pride ourselves on offering flexible working conditions and a friendly, inclusive work environment.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced field aquatic ecologist or field technician to join our specialist aquatic ecology team in Adelaide/Victor Harbor. At NGT you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and innovative projects with a friendly and supportive team with a commitment to scientific excellence.

The field aquatic ecologist/technician will possess the skills and expertise necessary to undertake field-based research and monitoring, with a focus on freshwater fish and crayfish projects. Above all, the role requires a willingness to undertake fieldwork and the physical capability and knowledge (or willingness to learn) to work in and around boats and watercraft. We will consider applications from suitably qualified persons with either formal qualifications or equivalent demonstrated operational experience.

While the position will predominantly support our field-based project delivery there is potential for involvement in other projects, as well as exploring and developing new project opportunities in line with the applicant’s interests. Field work will be predominantly based in Adelaide and surrounding regional areas in SA, but will also include interstate trips and periods away from home. The position may be offered as part-time or full-time.
