Description

We are looking for an experienced Federal Policy and Advocacy Manager to work on federal climate advocacy, operations, and outreach. The Federal Policy and Advocacy Manager is the highest ranking manager in the organization on federal climate advocacy and will be responsible for the overall success of federal climate advocacy efforts.

The ideal candidate will be a strategist and a leader able to steer the organization to the most successful policy outcomes while also implementing its vision, mission and long term goals for climate change.

The goal is to ensure the organization is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives for federal climate advocacy.

Terms: Full Time, Exempt. Salary of $80,000 – $90,000 commensurate with experience, plus competitive benefits package.

Location: Washington, DC area

Reports To: Lindsey Griffith, Federal Policy Director

Core Functions:

  • Developing and executing the organization’s federal policy strategy
  • Providing strategic advice on federal policy to the Executive Director, President, and Board
  • Preparing and implementing comprehensive federal policy efforts to achieve meaningful climate policy change

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Clean Air Task Force (50% FTE) and Clean Air Task Force-Action’s (50% FTE) federal climate policy and advocacy strategies in order to attain the goals of the organization
  • Provide strategic advice to organization leadership, board, and funders so they will have an accurate view of climate advocacy opportunities
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive federal advocacy plans by planning and coordinating federal advocacy operations and outreach
  • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with partner organizations, experts, and decisionmakers
  • Oversee the organization’s federal climate advocacy performance and outreach
  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure organization survival and growth in the federal climate advocacy sphere

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in policy advocacy
  • Thorough knowledge of federal policy and climate policy
  • Strong understanding of measures of success in federal and campaign advocacy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • BSc/BA in policy, political science or relevant field; MSc/MA will be preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience working with Congress on energy and climate issues; experience working as a Congressional aide to climate and energy relevant committee or Member preferred
