We are looking for a motivated and energetic individual to work on an exciting new opportunity - Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme for South Devon. Created by Defra as part of the Agricultural Transition Plan and managed by the South Devon AONB Partnership, it will help farmers, land managers and others to deliver projects in the farmed landscape under the themes of climate, nature, people and place. There is a potential to make a real difference to farm businesses throughout the Protected Landscape and you can play an important role.
This 30 hours per week part time role is based within the small, friendly South Devon AONB team, based in Totnes with flexibility for home working and potential for job share. This is an exciting time to join the team as we scale up our support for farming, nature’s recovery, and nature-based solutions across the AONB.
As the FiPL Officer you will provide advice and guidance to applicants, potential applicants and support a panel created to judge applications. We are looking for a motivated, experienced individual with a strong track record of engaging with farmers and land managers to provide agri-environment advice, support and facilitation. You will be an organised, self-motivated person with an in-depth understanding of farming and land management relevant to this area, who can work effectively as a key part of a small team of dedicated staff. You will be excited about working proactively in this sector and will bring energy, enthusiasm, experience, and pragmatism to the role.
