Description

My client is a prominent wind energy consultancy. They are looking to hire a mechanical engineer with advanced technical ability in wind turbine structures on their biggest onshore wind project. My client is keen to see candidates with a very strong background in wind turbine technology as this is a leadership position. The ideal candidate will have carried out the technical due diligence on utility or commercial scale wind energy projects and will also have been responsible for ensuring that all turbines on the projects were capable of lasting their predicted life spans. This role will require a mechanical engineer to be my client’s sole point of contact to wind turbine manufacturers therefore, you will need to be very knowledgeable in the working processes of wind turbine manufacturers.

This role will require you to travel up to 75% of the time across Europe so this is a great opportunity for a mechanical engineer looking to expand their international experience as this role will give the ideal candidate the opportunity to work on a range of large projects across the continent. This is a higher-ranking position that will suit a very experienced mechanical engineer within the wind energy space.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Carrying out extensive technical and due diligence assessments on prospective wind turbines prior to use on onshore projects
  • Travel weekly to manage the installation and aftercare process for a variety of projects across Europe.
  • Managing the post-installation care and maintenance of the wind turbines
  • Communicating project demands and requirements to manufactures and working with the lead designers to design specific energy efficient turbines with a long life span
  • Working with project directors to ensure that overall wind farm technology is updated regularly and is working at a high productivity rate.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in onshore wind energy technology
  • Strong interest and focus on wind turbine structure development
  • Strong academic background in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in due diligence and technical assessments for onshore projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
