The South Carolina Chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC-SC) is seeking an Executive Director to further the mission of green building and sustainable development in South Carolina. South Carolina is a leading state in green building projects and this position is a unique opportunity to lead a successful and growing non-profit that is transforming communities and the environment by promoting sustainability.
The priority goals and actions of Executive Director are:
- Organizational Leadership- Coordinate the volunteer leadership on the State and Local level
- Partnerships and Visability – Create partnerships with like-minded organizations and further the influence and mission of the organization by increasing the visability of the chapter
- Develop Programs of Excellence – Manage and develop education programs that promote full community engagement
- Fund Development- Reach out to the community of stakeholders in South Carolina to raise funds through donations, grants, sponsorships and membership
The position entails working with various levels of leadership within the Chapter, the Board and Branches. Supervision and administration of the Chapter’s day to day business is a focus of this position. The ED reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the implementation of the aims of the strategic direction of the organization. The ED will also communicate and work with many outside parties as a spokesperson and point-person for the Chapter.
We are seeking an Executive Director with these qualifications:
- Experience with all aspects of non-profit organizations: including fundraising, financial reporting and budgeting, program development, committee coordination, member recruitment and media relations.
- Proven tack record of successful fundraising, especially corporate sponsorships, grants and partnership development. Certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is highly desireable.
- Great communication and people-skills. Experience working with volunteers and coordinating their efforts and work.
- Seasoned public speaker who is comfortable with audiences from all walks of life.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to sustainable development.
- Organizational management experience; ability to see the big picture and also work on detailed programs and reports.
- Demonstrated success in managing public outreach and education programs.
This position is full-time and requires some weekends and evenings. Possibility of working from home-office or working in Charleston, SC office. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A green building background and LEED credentials are a plus but not required.
